Tuba City is a great location for starting a drive across northern Arizona (and on into New Mexico). This is a small town, but there is a restaurant at the hotel and several known places to eat there. The hotel also has a trading post and other features, but we arrived too late to see those.

Tuba City is not a tourist destination; rather, it is a base for touring the area between the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. Tuba City, itself, has little for the tourist, but the Navaho Interactive Museum and associated Trading Post are not to be missed. See Tuba City for what it is, an opportunity to learn about one of the most underappreciated and invisible cultures and peoples in America.

This is a small town in the middle of nowhere.
This is a small town in the middle of nowhere. However, I was on my way to the Grand Canyon and this was a good stopping point on my 3 day drive. The drive to Tuba City was very scenic with incredible rock formations and pretty good roads. Traffic was not heavy in March and I enjoyed the vistas along the way. The New Mexico portion of the drive was not that scenic, but once into Arizona it really started to look incredible. Tuba City is only an hour from the east entrance to the Grand Canyon and I found this a very easy way into the park. Far less traffic than the south entrance.

I was there to tour the Hopi reservation Which I did with a guide. I was also interested in the problems the Tribe are encountering today and see if there is anything a person like me can help with. The information I received helped me decide what I could do to help.
What a wonderful experience.

Code Talker exhibit was nice.
Code Talker exhibit was nice. We stayed between Monument Valley and Flagg; Tuba City is about the best you'll get on that route! Not a lot of food choice beyond Fast Food and bad Chinese. Be careful on the time zones, the Navajo side is 1 hour ahead as they observe DST, while the Hopi side does not and stays on MST. And no alcohol is allowed anywhere, so be careful to leave it hidden in your car!
The room was huge with a separate living room and a kitchenette. That was a pleasant surprise. We liked the complementary a'la carte breakfast in an authentic restaurant. The hotel locates within an hour drive from the east entrance to Grand Canyon. We enjoyed starting our tour from that side of the national park
This is a great hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were nice. And the location is great if you are heading that way. For me, it was perfect on the way from the Grand Canyon to Moab. They provided breakfast in a bag in the morning, which was neat.
The breakfast was excellent. I liked the fact that the window could be opened, and thus there was no need to run a noisy air conditioner all night. The hotel is filled with pictures and explanations of Navajo life and culture, a real plus.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and comfortable. We requested a quiet room, and they delivered. The staff offered excellent suggestions on local places to eat.
Very nice and spacious hotel! Decorated in native style, cozy and atmospheric. Our room was very big, we got parking space and hotel is situated in very convenient spot to move fast the next day.
Breakfast was delicious. Hotel staff nice and friendly and room was clean. Have recommended to friends already and will definitely stay in this property again if we are ever in the area.
