Absolutely loved the view from the main area of the hotel. Pool was way too warm and not refreshing. Communication was a little bit of an issue with some staff but they were lovely. Supermarket across the road so great to drinks at a cheaper price.

Small town. No Grab service in Chau Doc. went to Tra Su cajuput forest by Taxi, in a remote area and hard to get transportation to the forest, taxi driver waited ( I didn't ask him to wait) he wanted to make more money with the return to town trip. Basically it does not have the necessary public infrastructure to support tourists.

Chau Doc is visited mainly by tourists crossing the border between Vietnam and Cambodia. Other than a few hotel, there's not a lot to see. Although it's a nice little town with nice street food.

There is so many things to see in An Giang around Chau Doc: Sam mountain, Cam mountain, Tapa fields, lake at Tri Ton, temples and pagodas, Bung Binh Tien but my favorite was Tra Su Melaleuca forest. And of course the city of Chau Doc including some beautiful Muslim temples and a small floating market as well.

Central downtown Chau Doc is really hard to get around if you enjoy walking. Can Tho had good walking promenades and the town was OK for an avid pedestrian. Not so for Chau Doc which is overrun by motorbikes with limited walking areas, aside from the area near the river. Smelt more polluted than other places I've visited too as the streets in the downtown area are quite narrow and there's so many bikers. We stayed two nights. I'd recommend staying for one and heading straight out to the bird sanctuary and Sam Mountains which were really lovely and interesting - but lower your expectations of the town itself.

The river is great - life goes on there and watching the boats is interesting and calming, the temple end however is absolute chaos as 'pilgrims' are on a mission to spend what appears to be a very small amount of time to do their business. Cooked pigs seem to be the big bucks donation. Not exactly the equivalent of say a European Cathedral which offers peace and sanctuary, this is congested high energy and crassly commercial. As an experience it is worth it, but of course, not all experiences are that pleasant.....
Well located, clean and all the comforts that you need for a guesthouse. Rooms are spacious, beds are super comfy with excellent mattress, cold aircon and the staff are very helpful. Owner is Wayne a NZ retiree who is every so gracious and hospitable. He is a wealth of knowledge and even cycled to meet us at the Tinh Bien border. He can arrange ferry, transport, tours etc at excellent prices.
We really enjoyed our stay at Murray's! A sure choice in Chau Doc esp if you are a cyclist.

I loved the wooden and bamboo room, with big comfortable beds, including mosquito nets. I really liked to cook with Diem, she taught us to prepare spring rolls and we fried them in a pan on a wood fire outside the house, everything typically Vietnamese! There is the possibility to have bicycles for free and ride around the village. Diem is very helpful and gave us a lot of advices, she also helped us with booking the bus tickets etc
Newly fitted and very good, generally clean room; exceptional value; plenty of working sockets; good lighting; comfortable bed; soft squishy pillows; good aircon; even a hairdryer! Good location within 10 mins walk of central market, ATMs, etc and 3 mins walk from Victoria Hotel's excellent restaurant (breakfast available for non guests at perfectly ok price and boat dock for Cambodia.)
The value for money here is really great. The rooms have all the basic facilities, are spaceous and comfortable, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They helped us book a ferry to Phnom Penh, they even ordered a special vegetarian meal for us on request and laid the table in the reception area after we had checked out. I would really recommend this hotel.
The hostess was very friendly, very nice welcome in very clean large hotel with huge room with two very comfortable kingsize beds! The next mornig we had to leave early with the bus and the hostess' mother made us tea and breakfast for free and even included a very nice neck massage for the two of us, really very friendly people, would chose this hotel again!!
Great no frills place to stay. They do not serve breakfast now which was a bit of a hassle (because I didn't know before I got there and in the past they did) but otherwise for an inexpensive ..lovely place to stay in Chau Doc this is the best. Very close to the river and stores. Would stay there again for sure! Lovely owner who has been around the world!
The Paris Hotel in Chau Doc is very centrally located, new and very-well managed.
Right from the start till the our departure we felt very welcomed. Each of our requested trips and tickets were arranged so that we could fully enjoy our stay.
We appreciate all work done and wish you all the best for the future and your hotel!
The owner is so caring and friendly. He speaks English very well and helped me a lot during my stay.
He arranged a pick-up to the bus station and helped me find nice restaurants and places I should visit during my stay in Chau Doc.
The room is not perfect but is clean and quiet enough to stay, considering the price.
The room was comfortable. There are a number of options to have local food nearby. The receptionist was nice and helpful. You can rent motorbikes for 150K per day.
But attention: as the property is located inside the border area, non-Vietnamese are not allowed to stay.

I was only one night in this hotel and for one night everything was comfortable. I arrived late in the evening and the staff waited for me, they also gave me water and took care of my motorcycle, thank them very much for that.
Everything went well. There is an elevator. It is a 15 minutes walk from the Victoria Hotel / Hang Chau ferry to Phnom Penh and 5 minutes to the market. There are Vietnamese cuisine restaurants and cafés close-by.
Staff were excellent and very caring. Food was well made and tasty. Setting was spectacular and a peaceful respite from the intensity of Vietnam. Management obviously cares about customers and staff.
The hotel had lovely touches that made it feel cozy and welcoming. Everyone was very kind and helpful while we were there. We also set up a border crossing on a boat which was excellent!
I'm not sure why they call it "hostel", it should be hotel in general. I like the host, she's very friendly and helpful. We checked in early but we didn't have to pay any extra charge !
